Care for Children of Prisoners

Eden; raising up young men in Christ
Eden Home for Boys is a Christ-centered residential ministry dedicated to raising up young men in faith, character, and responsibility. What began not as a grand plan, but as a simple act of obedience, has grown, under God’s guidance, into a lasting work of restoration for vulnerable children.
The origins of Eden Home trace back to the compassion of Rev. Kees Brouwer and Rev. Apichart. One day, during a prison visit, a desperate man fell at the feet of Rev. Apichart, pleading for mercy for his children. Both he and his wife had been arrested at the same time, leaving their 15 children, ranging from 20 years old to a six-month-old baby, without care. Armed only with the name of a village and district, Rev. Apichart and Rev. Kees Brouwer set out to find them.
When they arrived, nine of the children were at home. The baby was gravely ill, and the others were suffering from malnutrition and neglect. The children were brought into care immediately. From this moment of mercy, Eden Home was born. As time went on, God entrusted more children to the home—many from families broken by incarceration, separation, or severe hardship. The responsibility increased, but God never failed to provide.
Eden Home exists not only to provide shelter and food, but to nurture children in a safe environment filled with love, structure, discipline, education, and spiritual formation. The goal is holistic growth, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually—so that each boy may understand his value and the hope God has for his life, in accordance with Proverbs 22:6,;raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
A powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness was seen in November 2025, when the youngest child from the very first group—the sick baby who had once been rescued, graduated from Bangkok Institute of Theology and secured employment with a church. Today, Eden Home is raising a second generation of boys.
Daily leadership of the home is now carried by Noy, the son of Rev. Apichart, and his wife Ann, who lovingly care for boys coming from families where one or both parents are incarcerated. Eden Home provides them a place to heal from trauma, receive consistent care, and grow in discipline and faith.
The home is located on a large property with elements of self-sustaining farming and livestock, teaching life skills and responsibility. However, after more than 30 years of continuous use, many buildings now require urgent renovation, including children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and safety infrastructure. Detailed renovation plans and cost breakdowns have been prepared, covering structural repairs, sanitation upgrades, and basic furnishings to receive additional children safely .
Currently, five boys live at Eden Home, with three more in the application process and a confirmed request to receive five additional boys by June 2026. Monthly operational costs average approximately USD 1,600, with food and daily care costing about USD 160 per child per month. The Blessings & Mercy Foundation serves as the primary funding provider, enabling the home to continue its mission faithfully.
Eden Home for Boys stands as a living testimony of God’s redeeming love, transforming abandonment into belonging, brokenness into healing, and vulnerable boys into Christ-centered young men with a mission to serve Christ.

Renovation Plans

Ensuring proper safety and hygiene at Eden Home for Boys is not simply a matter of maintenance—it is a fundamental responsibility toward the children entrusted to our care. Many of the boys living at the home come from backgrounds marked by neglect, instability, and trauma. Providing them with a clean, safe, and well-maintained living environment is essential for their physical health, emotional well-being, and sense of dignity.
The children’s dormitory rooms are where the boys rest, study, and find personal space. Damaged walls, deteriorating ceilings, and peeling or stained surfaces can pose safety risks, including falling debris, mold growth, and pest infestation. Repairing and repainting walls and ceilings with washable, stain-resistant materials helps prevent the buildup of bacteria and allergens while also improving lighting and air quality. A well-maintained living space reduces accidents and creates an environment that promotes rest, stability, and emotional security.
The bathroom facilities are especially critical for hygiene and disease prevention. Old or damaged toilets, sinks, and sanitation equipment increase the risk of contamination, water leakage, and the spread of infections. Replacing toilets, installing proper washbasins, and ensuring adequate sanitation equipment allows the boys to practice healthy hygiene habits consistently. Functional doors and mosquito screens protect privacy while reducing exposure to insects and insect-borne illnesses, which are common concerns in rural settings.
Upgrading the electrical system is also vital for safety. Faulty wiring and outdated fixtures can present serious fire and electrocution risks, particularly in high-moisture areas such as bathrooms. Safe and reliable lighting ensures visibility, reduces accidents, and supports daily routines, especially for younger children.
Overall, these renovations are not cosmetic improvements; they are protective measures that safeguard health, prevent illness, and reduce long-term maintenance risks. By investing in safety and hygiene, Eden Home affirms the value of each child, providing an environment where healing, growth, and responsible living can truly take place.
